The purpose of this web site is to
provide public awareness, understanding and professional
advocacy for children and adults with disabilities to
empower them to achieve their potential and participate
fully in society. Telephone and internet consulting
services are available for parents of children in special
education and for parents whose children are experiencing
difficulty in school. Representation for parents at
case conferences is available in central Indiana.
At times, parents find a need to have a
highly qualified special educator, not connected to the
school system, to represent their child's best interest
in educational matters like development of the IEP,
placement and in case conferences. Dr.
White-Mountain provides an objective perspective in
advocacy by answering questions for parents, explaining
parental rights, reviewing individualized education plans
for appropriateness and in identifying appropriate
classroom adaptations and the least restrictive
environment.
Dr. Janet White-Mountain provides
consulting services for parents of special needs children
nationwide, provides inservice training for teachers,
consults with businesses on the Americans With
Disabilities Act (ADA) and trains administrators in
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and IDEA.
Additionally, she is trained as a Due Process Hearing
Officer and serves as an expert witness in the areas of
learning disabilities, mental retardation, emotional
handicaps, early childhood special education, physical
handicaps, evaluation procedures, least restrictive
environment, transition services and in disputed child
custody cases.
With twenty-four years experience
in education, she is a leading authority on
individualized education programs, classroom adaptations
for special needs children, behavior management plans,
inclusion and special education methods and materials for
teaching exceptional children.
